I'm shooting with a super8 Canon 1014E and it is LOUD. I'm afraid that the mic will pick up motor noise and I don't think a barney will be able to quiet it. Does anyone know how to build a blimp relatively inexpensively (under 100 USD)?

    Thanks in advance,
    Scott Ulrich

Wrap it in a T-Shirt. *sigh*

Blimping will only do so much. With a camera that noisy, you are probably going to have to record your dialogue seperately and put it in in Post.

Ive heard of making your own blimp, using two wooden boxes.
The Cause of the sound is because the camera (or something inside it) is vibrating. To dampen that off you can make a small wooden (or otherwise) box that the camera fits into.
    Then make a larger box.
Put the smaller box inside the larger box and suspend the smaller box inside using foam, or springs of some sort, leaving an air gap.
Whatever happens the body of the camera mustn't touch the outer box. and there should be an aire gap between the boxes.

I haven't done this myself but it does apparently work quite well. Im sure you could make one for less than 100 $ too. Although it might look a little bulky - it would beat trying to do all the sound in post (Talk about a NIGHTMARE)

I agree with sdchown, wrap it in something (heavy coats), but that will only ever eliminate some of the noise.

Never believe anyone who says you can remove camera noise in post, it simply isn't true.

Non-sync is the only other option, as sdchown said. If it really is that noisey, it's the only option.
